NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

SHENANDOAH TOWN COUNCIL

PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE

NOTICE is hereby given pursuant to §§ 15.2-2204, 15.2-2251, and 15.2-2253 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, that Shenandoah Town Council will hold a Joint Public Hearing with the Shenandoah Planning Commission on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., in the Shenandoah Town Hall at 426 First Street in Shenandoah, Virginia.

The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comment concerning following proposed amendments to the subdivision ordinance set forth in Chapter 50, Article III, of the Town Code:

• The Town Manager and designees would be authorized to review and act upon preliminary and final subdivision plats.
• The review periods would be shortened for review of preliminary plats, final plats involving commercial or residential parcels, and resubmitted plats.
• Requirements and procedures would be established for when a subdivision plat is not approved.
• Various other provisions would be updated to reflect recent changes to Virginia law.     

Copies of the proposed amendments and the Town’s subdivision ordinance are available at the Shenandoah Town Hall at 426 First Street in Shenandoah, Virginia, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

NOTE: Any hearing-impaired individual who needs an interpreter must notify the Town Office at least seven days prior to the public hearing.
