Transportation

U.S. Highway 340 is the main transportation artery through Shenandoah. The Town can also be accessed from Interstate 81 by taking U.S. Highway 33 East to VA 602.

Located 30 minutes from I-81, 45 minutes from I-66 and I-64, and just 90 minutes from I-95, Shenandoah is also convenient to major interstates.

Medical

Page Memorial Hospital is located 20 minutes to the north of Shenandoah in the Town of Luray. The hospital provides acute, intermediate, respite, and 24-hour emergency services. Rockingham Memorial Hospital is located just 30 minutes from Shenandoah in the City of Harrisonburg.

There are two dentists and one Medical Practitioner in Shenandoah, with hundreds more located within a 30 mile radius.

 

Community Facilities

Shenandoah provides the community with several public facilities including the following…

  • Shenandoah Community Library is a newly renovated facility located on U.S. Highway 340. (540) 652-2665.
  • Shenandoah Community Center is available for community meetings, special events, and much more. (540) 652-1248.
  • Steven’s Cottage is listed on the National Register for Historic Buildings. It serves as the Shenandoah office of the Luray-Page Chamber of Commerce, and it is open to the public Friday – Monday. Steven’s Cottage is also available for community meetings and special events. (540) 652-1777.

 

Recreation

  • Wigwam Village Playground is a town owned and operated playground which features a children’s play area, picnic shelter, and two tennis courts.
  • The VFW Fields have two baseball diamonds which are used by the Shenandoah Recreation League for the Town’s little league baseball and football programs.
  • In cooperation with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, the Town operates a community boat launch and park. Shenandoah Landing is ideal for fishing, jet skiing, canoeing, kayaking, tubing, swimming, and picnics.
