Welcome to the Town of Shenandoah, Daughter of the Stars!

We proudly proclaim to be one of Virginia’s most picturesque Towns, nestled between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Massanutten Ridge, along the banks of the beautiful Shenandoah River.

In our beautiful little Town you will find lots to do and see. We have several parks where you can enjoy fishing, water sports or have a leisurely picnic by the river. Enjoy our tennis courts while the children have fun at the adjacent playground. We have many unique and specialty shops where you can find that special gift or souvenir.

Shenandoah is rich in history. We are listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places. We have over 300 structures on the historic district listing. We are also a historic railroad Town. From the benches on First Street, railroad buffs will enjoy watching the only working station between Roanoke and Hagerstown. Visitors will also enjoy the train photographs and other railroad memorabilia on display at Town Hall and at the visitor center.

Shenandoah has made many advances in technology, boasting a state of the art public computer center with high-speed broadband internet service. Visit us to check your email or print your photographs. Geocache hunters will find several hidden throughout Town. Those with the need for speed of a different sort will enjoy racing at the Shenandoah Speedway, which is located in a very scenic setting. We are truly in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley’s tourism industry, being just a short 20 minute drive from Luray Caverns, Massanutten Resort & Water Park, Shenandoah National Park, and Skyline Drive. We are just two hours from Richmond, the Commonwealth of Virginia Capital.

On behalf of the entire Town of Shenandoah, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our Town. It is a very special place!

Sincerely,

Clinton O. Lucas, Jr. , Mayor
